chinese everything.. i really need to learn to read -_-"

caro's in Hong Kong! yeeeey! it's 3 hours behind australia so i woke up at 5am -_-"

i'm using my aunt's computer to type this, and everything is in chinese. i'm guessing my way around microsoft windows and even chinese hotmail! my aunt says i need to learn to read. i'm starting to agree.

bought myself a guidebook at dymocks (yeah, they have dymocks bookstores in hong kong, yey!) so now i can wander around by myself and not get completely lost.. or, at least, find my way home. hurrah for street directories.

and i have a new hong kong ID card! three stars and an AFO, whatever that means. (one letter away from having an afro, i suppose.)

i'll write more when more exciting stuff happens, mostly today has been spent sitting around in a waiting room at the immigration department, and the lighting and decor in there is worse than your average hospital - the lighting alone, never mind the big blank walls, is enough to bring on mammoth headaches.

next time, i'll write about the joys of okashiland...

this is no time to be a banana -_-"

in two weeks time, i am going to be staying with my aunties in kowloon (九龍) hong kong, WITHOUT EITHER OF MY PARENTS OR COUSINS.

i am so, so scared.

how am i going to talk to them without a translator readily on hand?! conversation will revolve around food, the weather, and how funny i look trying to play charades and pictionary so they get some vague idea of what i want to say.

laughs will be had at my expense.. being a banana ABC, i have the most horrendous accent when i try to speak cantonese. or any asian language aside from japanese. -_-"

kabbens is in hong kong right now, preparing for her two week european jaunt. (how i envy those who can take a long holiday... and in prague and vienna, no less!) one wonders what one is going to do without one's best friend for two weeks.

become a hermit and stay in playing computer games, i suppose ^-^ there's a new instalment for NeverwinterNights 2 coming out on Friday.. geeky anticipation abounds.

i had a really weird dream last night, in which i was wandering around a rural General Store, looking at a shelf with cartons of eggs, one of which was advertising "chicken milk! the new way to start your morning - nutritious and delicious!" or something to that effect.

i must have spent at least fifteen dream-minutes standing there, staring at the shelf, trying to get my head around the idea of what chicken milk would be (milk from a chicken? or chicken-flavoured milk?) and if was milk from a chicken, how the hell it was possible..

eventually i abandoned my poultry/dairy musings and trotted off to go get ready for a day at the races, which for some reason involved sneaking into a friend's weatherboard beach shack, and being coerced by said friend into trying on one of her black flamenco dresses which mysteriously turned pastel green and peasantly when it got stuck on my head.

let me tell you - pastel green grannie wallpaper as a dress? definitely not smexy!
